WILLEMSTAD – Zijne Majesteit de Koning heeft postuum aan stewardess mevrouw Margareth Abraham de Erepenning voor Mensenlievend Hulpbetoon, Zilver, toegekend.<\/p>\n

De Erepenning voor Menslievend Hulpbetoon is, na de Militaire Willems-Orde, de oudste nog bestaande Nederlandse dapperheidsonderscheiding. De onderscheiding wordt verleend aan hen die een menslievende daad hebben verricht die de kenmerken draagt van moed, beleid en zelfopoffering.<\/p>\n

Op 2 mei 2020 staan we stil bij het feit dat 50 jaar geleden stewardess mevrouw Margareth Abraham overleed. Tijdens een noodlanding van ALM 980 op zee in de buurt van het eiland St. Croix heeft zij haar eigen leven opgeofferd om meerdere passagiers te redden van de dood. Ze nam daarin haar verantwoordelijkheid als stewardess, zonder enige aarzeling. Hiermee heeft ze moed en durf getoond. Een heldendaad uit de geschiedenis die niet vergeten mag worden, en waarvoor Zijne Majesteit de Koning zijn waardering uit met het toekennen van de Erepenning voor Mensenlievend Hulpbetoon, Zilver.<\/p>\n

Ingevolge de maatregelen die door de regering zijn afgekondigd in het kader van de bestrijding van Covid19, zal de offici\u00eble ceremonie waarin de Gouverneur van Cura\u00e7ao de Erepenning voor Mensenlievend Hulpbetoon, Zilver, aan de familie van mevrouw wijlen M.
