WILLEMSTAD – Na de regeringsverklaring van het kabinet Pisas III, ter gelegenheid van de opening van het parlementaire jaar 2025-2026 op 9 september, heeft Gouverneur George-Wout een afscheidswoord uitgesproken in de Staten:<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/em><\/strong>Voorzitter, als u mij toestaat, maak ik graag van deze gelegenheid gebruik om kort ook een persoonlijk woord tot u en uw Staten te richten.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dit was niet alleen mijn twaalfde opening van een vergaderjaar van de Staten, maar ook mijn laatste. Zoals bekend loopt mijn ambtstermijn als Gouverneur in november af. Ik kan niet een meer eervolle gelegenheid bedenken om afscheid te nemen dan hier, in het hart van onze democratie bij degene die ons volk mogen vertegenwoordigen.<\/em><\/p>\n

Het was immers ook in het midden van uw Staten, dat ik op 8 november 2013 tijdens een plechtige zitting van ons parlement, het ambt van Gouverneur aanvaardde.<\/em><\/p>\n

Het is voor mij als trotse Cura\u00e7aose Nederlander een bijzonder voorrecht geweest om ons geliefde Cura\u00e7ao als uw Gouverneur te mogen dienen. \u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Zoals gebruikelijk reist de Gouverneur na de opening van het parlementaire jaar van Cura\u00e7ao af naar Nederland om op de derde dinsdag van september (Prinsjesdag) de opening van het parlementaire jaar aldaar bij te wonen, als de Koning de Troonrede uitspreekt.<\/p>\n

Tijdens haar bezoek in Nederland zal zij in het gouverneursoverleg ook afscheid nemen van haar collega-gouverneurs; Gouverneur Boekhoudt van Aruba en Gouverneur Baly van Sint Maarten; alsook van de staatssecretaris voor Koninkrijksrelaties, Van Marum.<\/p>\n

Ook zal de Gouverneur voor de laatste keer haar opwachting maken bij de Koning om van hem afscheid te nemen.<\/p>\n

Na terugkeer in Cura\u00e7ao zal Gouverneur George-Wout alleen nog lopende zaken afhandelen. Daarna zal de waarnemend Gouverneur Michele Russel-Capriles de honneurs waarnemen, tot het aantreden van de nieuwe Gouverneur, Mauritsz de Kort.<\/p>\n
