Willemstad – Vandaag, 18 december 2025, heeft op initiatief van de US Consul General een bespreking plaatsgevonden tussen hoge vertegenwoordigers van het US Consulate, de US Air Force, het Ministerie van Defensie, de burgerluchtvaartautoriteiten van Curaçao en Aruba en DC-ANSP. Het overleg had betrekking op interimmaatregelen om de veiligheid van het luchtverkeer in de Curaçao Flight Information Region (FIR) en het luchtruim van Curaçao, Aruba en Bonaire te waarborgen.
Tijdens deze bespreking zijn concrete afspraken gemaakt over het gebruik van de transponder bij militaire vliegbewegingen binnen het Curaçaose luchtruim. Deze maatregelen treden per onmiddellijk in werking.
Daarnaast zullen tussen de Amerikaanse autoriteiten, de luchtvaartautoriteit van Curaçao en luchtverkeersleiding DC-ANSP verdere afspraken worden gemaakt om te komen tot een meer structurele oplossing.
Immediate Measures to Ensure Air Traffic Safety
Willemstad – Today, December 18, 2025, at the initiative of the US Consul General, a meeting was held between senior representatives of the US Consulate, the US Air Force, the Ministry of Defense, the civil aviation authorities of Curaçao and Aruba, and DC-ANSP. The meeting focused on interim measures to ensure the safety of air traffic within the Curaçao Flight Information Region (FIR) and the airspace of Curaçao, Aruba, and Bonaire.
During the meeting, concrete agreements were reached regarding the use of transponders during military flight operations within Curaçao’s airspace. These measures take effect immediately.
In addition, further agreements will be made between the American authorities, the civil aviation authority of Curaçao, and air traffic control DC-ANSP to arrive at a more structural, long-term solution.
