VISION
The National Central Bureau INTERPOL Curaçao contributes to the development of policy regarding internationally related crime control and prevention.
MISSION
To be an excellent service that must play a supporting, coordinating, facilitating and advisory role with regard to all organizations, services and authorities whose mission is to combat crime.
OBJECTIVE
There is a National Central Bureau – INTERPOL Curaçao, which aims to achieve the objectives of the International Criminal Police Organization – INTERPOL by:
- to achieve and promote mutual assistance between INTERPOL Curacao and the countries affiliated to ICPO-INTERPOL, regarding the implementation of activities to prevent and combat crime;
- establishing multidisciplinary project groups that can be expected to contribute to the effective combating and prevention of crime.
TASK
INTERPOL Curacao has the following tasks:
- maintaining regular contacts with the IPSG on organisational matters and exchanging relevant data and intelligence of an international criminal nature;
- to act as the official body through which, at the request of the police and judicial authorities of Curaçao or those of the other member states of ICPO-INTERPOL, the exchange of information takes place;
- attending, in the context of the evaluation and coordination of Interpol events, the General Assembly of ICPO-INTERPOL and the associated meetings of heads of National Central Bureaux, aimed at adopting resolutions that can be implemented in compliance with the national laws and regulations of Curaçao;
- building up expertise in the international crime field to support the judicial organizations in Curaçao with professional knowledge and assistance;
- coordinating investigations and conducting investigations in response to Interpol requests;
- performing other activities related to the implementation of international and interregional law enforcement.
ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT
- INTERPOL Curacao is an executive organization, positioned outside the sector within the Ministry of Justice, which forms an inseparable partnership with (police) organizations with a public law task in the field of police, justice and/or security.
- INTERPOL Curacao supports the above-mentioned organizations in preventing and combating crime. Interpol collects, analyzes and exchanges (police) information between countries and helps with international police cooperation.
- The activities of INTERPOL Curacao can be divided into a coordinating, supporting, independent and advisory role.
- The Minister of Justice exercises the competent authority over INTERPOL Curacao with regard to management and may issue the necessary instructions to the Head in this regard.
- INTERPOL Curacao is under the authority of the Attorney General with regard to the performance of its operational tasks, at least with regard to its tasks in the service of justice.
